AI and Christianity: A Biblical Perspective

As artificial intelligence continues to shape education, culture, and decision-making, Christians are being called to engage with this technology thoughtfully and faithfully. In AI and Christianity: A Biblical Perspective, Dr. Joseph R. Miller explores how believers can navigate AI with wisdom, discernment, and a firm grounding in biblical principles.

Rather than treating AI as a simple productivity tool, Dr. Miller challenges readers to consider its deeper influence on thinking, belief formation, and moral reasoning. The article emphasizes that while AI can support learning and efficiency, it should never replace human reflection, spiritual growth, or dependence on God.

Key themes include:

  • Why AI is more than “just a spell-check”
  • The risks of outsourcing convictions and worldview formation to algorithms
  • The irreplaceable role of the human mind, created in God’s image
  • The mission of Christian higher education to cultivate wisdom, character, and truth
  • Choosing growth, struggle, and discernment over convenience.

This reflection aligns closely with GCU’s commitment to faith-based education, reinforcing that technology must serve human learning and spiritual formation—not overshadow it.

💼 Career-Ready Skills Through AI: PR Writing with Cynthia Weaver

CETLA is proud to highlight Cynthia Weaver and her innovative use of AI in the Public Relations Writing course. To help students prepare for real-world careers in PR, Cynthia created an assignment that blends professional development with responsible AI use.

Students begin by researching the education and experience required for a PR role they aspire to, such as Media Relations, Crisis Communications, or Internal Communications. They then create an aspirational résumé and cover letter tailored to a real job listing.

To support the process, students use:

  • ChatGPT to generate polished application materials using industry-relevant keywords
  • Insta Headshots to produce a professional, job-ready headshot

This assignment teaches students how to:

  • Navigate AI tools effectively and ethically
  • Communicate their qualifications with clarity and confidence
  • Strengthen personal branding
  • Prepare for internships and future PR roles

Cynthia’s approach encourages students to build both technical and professional skills—showcasing how AI can enhance learning in meaningful, career-focused ways.
